Research methods courses

Most faculties or departments run courses in research design and methods. Some of these are Masters units, which you may be permitted to audit. To find out, contact the relevant unit convenor or your Faculty HDR team.

􏰀Data analysis and statistics support

Seek statistical advice early in your candidature to minimise the occurrence of later problems. A Statistical Consulting Service is run every Monday 11am - 2pm in Building E4A Room 529. Bookings are preferred, or just turn up and wait to be seen.

Contact: A/Prof Peter Petocz, +61 2 9850 9174.

Finding and managing literature

The Macquarie University library offers a wealth of research support to help you keep up to date in your field, manage your references, and to track the impact of your research. Check out their online resources or book an appointment with your faculty research librarian.

Research tools

Check out the HDR Workshops page for short courses in the use of popular research software, such as NVivo, SPSS, EndNote and Mendeley.

Teaching support

Many HDR candidates are asked to teach (lecture or tutor) during the course of their studies. The Learning and Teaching Centre offers a range of free on-campus and online workshops both for those new to teaching and for those seeking to improve the way they teach. There are also workshops for setting up and managing online units using iLearn, Macquarie University's learning management system.
