Macquarie University Postgraduate Research Fund (PGRF)
Macquarie University Higher Degree Research candidates are able to apply for funding from the Postgraduate Research Fund (PGRF) once during their candidature. Candidates under joint PhD programs, such as the cotutelle scheme, may apply to the Dean HDR for permission to make a second application.
Candidates may apply for up to $5000 for activities that add value to their research project. Examples of such activities include a trip to make a conference presentation or visit to a laboratory or archive. PGRF funds are NOT to be used to meet basic research or infrastructure costs associated with candidature.
The PRF has two rounds per year. Details of application dates, periods and activities covered are in the PGRF Funding Rules (see below).
The PGRF is administered through Faculty HDR administration. Applications are to be submitted to the Faculty HDR office by the closing date.
Applicants MUST familiarise themselves with the PGRF Funding Rules, and follow all instructions in completing the application form. One of the fundamental purposes of the PGRF is to give HDR candidates experience in applying for funds through a competitive grant scheme. Applications are assessed on the quality of the written application and supporting documentation alone. Applicants should seek advice from their supervisors in preparing their applications. Faculties run workshops on PGRF application, and all applicants are strongly advised to attend a workshop.
